Sweden triumphs again at OGAE Second Chance 2025, while Serbia lands in the middle of the scoreboard!

The OGAE Second Chance Contest, the competition organized by Eurovision fans for the 39th time, once again brought together the best songs from national selections across Europe—those that, despite great public support, didn’t get the chance to shine on the main Eurovision stage.

For decades, this unique fan competition has offered a „second chance“ to favorite songs that remained in the shadow of the national final winners, often unveiling performers who later become big names at Eurovision.

In a highly thrilling final, fans worldwide crowned Sweden as the winner. Its representative, Klara Hammarström, triumphed with the song „On and On and On,“ winning an impressive 348 points. With this victory, Sweden has confirmed its dominance in this contest and added another win to its rich collection of successes on the OGAE stage.

OGAE Serbia was represented this year by the song „Aladin“ performed by Harem Girls, which won 32 points and took 16th place in the overall standings. Although the result is not among the highest, in a competition of 25 countries and an exceptionally strong year, it represents a solid placement that confirms Serbia’s continuity and recognition within this fan community.

The OGAE Second Chance Contest 2025 was held in Florence, Italy, thanks to last year’s triumph by Annalisa and her song „Sinceramente.“ The Italian fan club hosted this year’s edition, which traditionally brought a blend of music, emotion, and fan enthusiasm that makes the OGAE community special.

Sweden’s dominance

A total of 25 OGAE clubs participated in this year’s contest, including OGAE Rest of the World, which gathers fans from countries without a national branch.

The winner was decided by members from 38 OGAE clubs worldwide, including those from countries that either did not hold a national selection or did not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Voting was carried out according to the classic Eurovision system (1 to 12 points), and the results were collected throughout August.

However, this year’s process did not go without minor technical difficulties—the votes from OGAE Greece were unfortunately not included in the final tally as they arrived after the voting deadline, which caused slight discontent among fans, but did not significantly affect the overall ranking.

In the end, Sweden triumphed, recording its record 19th victory in the history of the OGAE competition, and its fourth since 2020, thus confirming its status as one of the most successful countries in the Eurovision fan world.

Italy, this year’s host, achieved an outstanding result—second place with the song „La cura per me“ performed by Giorgia, who scored 258 points and delighted the audience with her emotional performance.

In third place was Finland with the song „Made Of“ performed by Goldielocks, scoring 239 points, while in fourth place were our southern neighbors—Albania, with the song „Karnaval“ performed by Elvana Gjata, who once again confirmed her status as a regional star.

Serbia’s performance – Harem Girls at 16th place

In this year’s OGAE contest, Serbia was represented by the song „Aladin“ performed by Harem Girls, which had previously competed in the national selection, Pesma za Evroviziju, where they took second place.

The Harem Girls, popularly known as „Haremke,“ brought a touch of the exotic to this year’s fan voting with their striking performance, energy, and Oriental pop sound, attracting attention across the region. After the votes were tallied, Serbia scored 32 points and finished in 16th place among 25 competing countries.

The song „Aladin“ resonated best in the region, where it received the strongest fan support. It received votes from six clubs, all of them from the region except Armenia. OGAE Serbia received the following points:

When it comes to the OGAE Serbia votes, our members gave their highest points this year to Croatia. The complete votes from OGAE Serbia members are as follows:

1 point za  Denmark
2 points za  Norway
3 points za  Albania
4 points za  Belgium
5 points za  Poland
6 points za  Spain
7 points za  Italy
8 points za  Finland
10 points za  Sweden
12 points za  Croatia

It is interesting to note that OGAE Serbia has been competing in this prestigious fan contest since 2004, participating a total of 16 times. When all previous results are combined, Serbia’s average placement is 11th place.

This year’s 16th place is thus slightly below average but still represents a stable result, especially considering the ever-increasing competition and the number of countries joining the vote each year.

Overall, Serbia confirmed its presence and continuity in the OGAE world this year, and the Harem Girls’ placement, although modest compared to our historical average, certainly contributes to maintaining the tradition of participation and Serbia’s visibility among Eurovision fans across Europe.

In terms of regional results, besides the excellent fourth place for the Albanian representative, we also saw performances from Croatia, Greece, and Slovenia.

Croatia took a solid 11th place with the song „The Soul of My Soul“ performed by LELEK, scoring 69 points and placing it in the upper half of the scoreboard. Their specific musical expression and artistic approach were met with positive fan reactions, especially from those who appreciate authentic and experimental performances.

Greece, with the song „Sirens“ performed by BARBZ, finished in 15th place, scoring 38 points, while Slovenia, on the other hand, achieved a slightly weaker result this year—the song „New Religion“ performed by July Jones took 21st place with 8 points.

OGAE Second Chance – A second chance for unforgettable song

The OGAE Second Chance Contest has been organized annually since 1987 with the aim of promoting and recognizing the best song from a national selection that was not chosen for Eurovision. Each national OGAE organization selects the song it believes deserves a „second chance,“ regardless of its original ranking.

Next year, due to Klara Hammarström’s victory, OGAE Sweden will have the honor of hosting the 40th edition of this popular fan competition.

What do you think, did Klara Hammarström deservedly take the victory, or should another song have triumphed? Let us know in the comments!
