Dear Eurovision fans and enthusiasts, get ready! We are launching a segment that many have wished for: „Fan Wishes for PZE ’26“!
After the Eurovision fever subsides, the same question always arises: Who will be the next artist to defend Serbia’s colours? Instead of waiting, we’ve decided to spark a real discussion about who the public would most like to see on the stage of the „Pesma za Evroviziju“ (PZE) 2026 contest.
Serbia boasts a rich music scene and numerous artists whose voices, emotion, and stage presence could leave a strong impression on both the domestic and European audiences.
In this new segment, starting today, we will feature one artist daily who, according to the public and fans, could be a worthy representative for Serbia at Eurovision. We will discuss their qualities, musical style, experience, the energy they bring, and how their artistic expression would fit into the spirit of contemporary Eurovision.
This series of articles will be an opportunity to dream, analyse, and debate together about what makes Serbia recognizable on the Eurovision stage—and who could continue that story in the best possible way.
As the first artist in this segment, we single out a singer whose name is often mentioned among fans whenever the topic of potential representatives comes up—Jelena Tomašević.
First wish: Jelena Tomašević
As an introduction to this exciting series, we start with a name that evokes beautiful memories and represents a synonym for vocal power and dignified performance—Jelena Tomašević.
Jelena is a singer whose quality is unquestionable. Her greatest advantage is her exceptional vocal range and tone, which allows her to excel equally well in ballads, ethno-pop, and modern pop tracks.
Her style can best be described as a fusion of traditional Serbian melodies with contemporary pop production. It is precisely this authentic ethno-pop note that the European audience often rewards and remembers, giving her an advantage over generic pop numbers.
Europe already knows and appreciates her. We must not forget her magnificent performance at Eurovision 2008 in Belgrade with the song „Oro“, where she won a high 6th place. That song remains a cult classic among Eurovision fans today, proving that Jelena has a formula for success.

However, Jelena began her Eurovision journey a few years earlier, at Beovizija 2005, when she won the hearts of the audience and the jury with the song „Jutro“, written by Željko Joksimović.
Although she did not get the opportunity to represent Serbia and Montenegro at the time, „Jutro“ became a cult song of the domestic national finals—a track still remembered today for its powerful emotion and lavish interpretation. Many still consider that performance one of the best in the history of our national finals.
It should also be noted, especially the day after the results of OGAE Second Chance 2025 are published, that Jelena Tomašević represented our country with the song „Jutro“ at the 2005 edition of this contest, where she won a high second place—which still represents the best result of our country and OGAE Serbia in this competition.
Should Jelena reappear at Pesma za Evroviziju, it would certainly be an event that would generate significant interest. Her music, which intertwines pop, ethno, and classical elements, could perfectly reflect the spirit of Serbia and attract an international audience.
With the right song—emotional, lavish, and distinctively „Serbian“—Jelena could be a serious contender for returning Serbia to the very top of the scoreboard.
Jelena Tomašević possesses what cannot be taught at Eurovision—sincerity in interpretation. Her presence radiates dignity and artistic power, qualities that the audience recognizes and appreciates. That is why it is no surprise that many fans see her as the ideal representative for Serbia—an artist who would once again showcase the power of emotion and the beauty of our musical expression to Europe.
Imagine a new, powerful ballad with elements of world-class production and a strong ethno-line. That would be a guaranteed success for the European market, which craves quality vocals and a clear national stamp.
Jelena Tomašević’s participation in PZE ’26 would not just be a comeback, but a statement of quality and seriousness of our intention to fight for the very top of Eurovision.
